Good Friday Stations of the Cross: Journey of the Heart
Join us this Good Friday at Mount Carmel for a powerful and prayerful journey through the Stations of the Cross.
Together, we will walk with Jesus through His Passion—not as spectators, but as companions. Through Scripture, silence, and the exact prayers from Journey of the Heart, we will enter more deeply into the mystery of Good Friday and open our hearts to Christ’s healing love.
“By His wounds we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5
Opening Prayer
Lord Jesus, You were wounded for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. As we walk these Stations, open our hearts to the depth of Your love, the weight of Your sacrifice, and the mercy that flows from every wound.
Let Your suffering heal our sin, Your silence strengthen our faith, and Your cross draw us closer to the Father. Make this journey a moment of grace—a time to remember, to repent, and to be renewed. Stay with us, Jesus, as we follow You on the way of the cross. Amen.
Prayers from the Stations
Station 1 – Jesus Is Condemned to Death
Jesus, in the hour You were handed over, truth was rejected and love was wounded. Give me the courage to stand with You, when it is easier to stay silent.
Strengthen my heart to choose what is right, even when it costs me something. Hold me close to Your cross, and make me faithful in small, hidden ways. Amen.
Station 2 – Jesus Takes Up His Cross
Jesus, You carried the cross alone, stepping forward in silent love for me. Give me the strength to carry my own crosses, with trust, humility, and courage.
Stay close to me on this way, and let every step draw me deeper into Your heart. Amen.
Station 3 – Jesus Falls the First Time
Jesus, burdened and fallen, lift me when I fall under the weight of my own failures. Heal what is wounded in me, and give me the grace to rise with You, trusting that Your strength begins where mine ends. Amen.
Station 4 – Jesus Meets His Mother
Mary, Mother of Sorrows, stand with me when my heart is pierced by pain. Teach me to remain faithful in love, to stay close to Jesus in suffering, and to walk with courage wherever the cross leads. Amen.
Station 5 – Simon of Cyrene Helps Jesus Carry the Cross
Jesus, when You could no longer carry the weight, You allowed another to step in beside You. Give me a humble heart, to accept help when I am tired, to offer help when someone is burdened, and to recognize You in every unexpected cross I am asked to carry. Amen.
Station 6 – Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus
Jesus, in Veronica’s simple act of love, You received the kindness the world refused to give. Teach me to recognize Your face in every person who suffers, and to offer compassion even when it feels small or unnoticed. Amen.
Station 7 – Jesus Falls the Second Time
Jesus, when You fell again, crushed and weary, You entered the depths of human weakness. Lift me when I am overwhelmed, and help me rise with You in hope. Amen.
Station 8 – Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem
Lord Jesus, even in Your suffering, You turned toward those who mourned. Turn toward us now. Teach us to see the places in our hearts that need healing, and give us the grace to walk the path of conversion. Amen.
Station 9 – Jesus Falls the Third Time
Lord Jesus, in Your third fall, You embraced the depth of human weakness. Lift us when our strength is gone. Teach us that our breaking points are not the end, but the place where Your grace begins. Amen.
Station 10 – Jesus Is Stripped of His Garments
Lord Jesus, in Your stripping You entered the deepest human vulnerability. Remove gently the masks, defenses, and fears we no longer need, and clothe us instead with Your mercy, dignity, and healing love. Amen.
Station 11 – Jesus Is Nailed to the Cross
Lord Jesus, as You were nailed to the cross, stand with us in the places where we feel wounded by betrayal, misunderstanding, and helplessness. Heal the hidden self within us by Your mercy, compassion, and forgiveness. Amen.
Station 12 – Jesus Dies on the Cross
Lord Jesus, in Your final breath You completed the work of love. Quench our thirst for You, and finish in us the healing we cannot do alone. May Your death open the way for our hearts to rise with You into freedom, truth, and peace. Amen.
Station 13 – Jesus Is Taken Down from the Cross
Lord Jesus, as Your body was taken down from the cross, teach us to bring our hidden wounds into Your gentle embrace. Give us the courage to let ourselves be held and healed by Your love. Amen.
Station 14 – Jesus Is Laid in the Tomb
Lord Jesus, as You were laid in the tomb, teach us to trust You in the silence. When hope seems sealed away and we cannot see what comes next, hold us close and prepare our hearts for the dawn of Your Resurrection. Amen.
Hymns Between the Stations
After Station 1
Through her heart, His sorrow sharing
All His bitter anguish bearing
Now at length the sword has passed.
After Station 2
O how sad and sore distressed
Was that Mother highly blessed
Of the Sole Begotten One.
After Station 3
Christ above in torments hangs
She beneath beholds the pangs
Of her dying, glorious Son.
After Station 4
Is there one who would not weep
Whelmed in miseries so deep
Christ’s dear Mother to behold.
After Station 5
Can the human heart refrain
From partaking in her pain
In that Mother’s pain untold.
After Station 6
Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled
She beheld her tender Child
All with bloody scourges rent.
After Station 7
For the sins of His own nation
Saw Him hang in desolation
Till His spirit forth He sent.
After Station 8
O sweet Mother, fount of love
Touch my spirit from above
Make my heart with yours accord.
After Station 9
Make me feel as you have felt
Make my soul to glow and melt
With the love of Christ, my Lord.
After Station 10
Holy Mother, pierce me through
In my heart each wound renew
Of my Savior crucified.
After Station 11
Let me share with you His pain
Who for all our sins was slain
Who for me in torments died.
After Station 12
Let me mingle tears with thee
Mourning Him who mourned for me
All the days that I may live.
After Station 13
By the cross with you to stay
There with you to weep and pray
Is all I ask of you to give.
After Station 14
Virgin of all virgins blest!
Listen to my fond request:
Let me share your grief divine.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus, as we walked with You today, You walked into the hidden corners of our hearts. Carry us into the hope of Your Resurrection. Teach us to love with Your courage, to forgive with Your mercy, and to rise with Your strength. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Join us at Mount Carmel this Good Friday for this sacred journey of prayer, healing, and hope.
